The “Bénichon” is a centuries-old, traditional Fribourg celebration.
Originally, this festival was a celebration of thanksgiving: giving thanks to the gods for all that nature had provided and that had been harvested during the year. Over the centuries, The Bénichon has become a major popular and gastronomic celebration.
For six hours or more, guests enjoy a variety of traditional specialities: cuchaule with Bénichon mustard, cabbage soup, jambon de la borne, leg of lamb with Botzi pears, meringues with double cream, small fruits and Bénichon delicacies.
The meal is followed by dancing to traditional folk music, extending this warm and convivial celebration.
