The Fribourg Clarinet Choir, conducted by Jean-Daniel Lugrin, retired professor at the Fribourg Conservatory, brings together the entire clarinet family and can include up to six different types of clarinets, from the small E-flat clarinet to the contrabass clarinet. It exploits the full range of the instrument's sound and agility.
This ensemble can produce a sound with great roundness and unique softness, as well as exploring more acidic, muted or mocking timbres. The repertoire of a clarinet ensemble covers transcriptions of classical works (from baroque to contemporary) as well as adaptations of film music, jazz works and dedicated creations.
