This exhibition presents a series of new works by glassmaker Matteo Gonet, who, after training at the Technical Glass School in Zwiesel, Germany, traveled across Europe as a journeyman in search of glassmaking expertise. Each destination offered an opportunity to deepen his knowledge and incorporate new techniques.
A graduate of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 1999, he was entrusted, at the age of twenty, with the management of the hot glass workshops at CIRVA (International Centre for Glass and Visual Arts) in Marseille. There, he encountered the most renowned artists and designers of the time. In 2004, he began working in Lausanne and later in Bern. In 2009, he opened his own studio in Münchenstein near Basel, where he now works with a team of fifteen craftsmen and collaborates with leading designers, artists, and architects, constantly pushing the boundaries of his discipline.
