Over the course of the seasons and in complete seclusion, Olivier Gilliéron has photographed the most significant moments in the life of the Alpine ptarmigan. As he explored the most remote corners of the Vaud and Valais Alps, he developed a passion for its natural habitat—a wild world of magnificent landscapes teeming with fascinating wildlife.
Biography:
A wildlife photographer with a love of solitude and discretion, Olivier Gilliéron captures most of his images in the most unspoilt parts of the Alps and North America. An author and speaker, he occasionally organises exhibitions or produces reports for the specialist press and regularly publishes books on nature. His latest book, ‘The Wild World of the Alpine Rock Ptarmigan’, was published in November 2025 by Château & Attinger.
