The first exhibition of the year at the Salle des Baillis presents the reverse glass paintings of Fride WirtlWalser (*1932) in a retrospective tracing her artistic career from the 1970s to the present day.
The works joined the museum's collection in 2024 following a donation by the artist. They constitute a representative selection of her work, carefully chosen by WirtlWalser herself, which reflects the techniques and themes she explored throughout her career. The exhibition highlights an artist driven by constant curiosity and experimentation, always seeking new avenues of expression through glass.
Originally from Kleinwalsertal (Austria), Fride WirtlWalser has lived in Peiting-Schongau, Upper Bavaria, since 1952. Her works have been exhibited in Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Egypt and Russia. She is also the author of four specialist books on the technique and history of glass painting.
