Their story
The adventure of Au Jambon d'Or butcher's shop began in 1981 when Christophe Wicht took over the St-Jacques butcher's shop in Vuisternens-devant-Romont. With his wife Françoise, he developed the business and opened a second shop on Grand-Rue in Romont.
At the same time, he transformed the ‘borne’ (maturation room) on the family farm in Prez-vers-Siviriez. Initially dedicated to maturing 500 hams, over the years it has evolved to accommodate up to 1,500, while still respecting traditional methods. This is how Au Jambon d'Or was officially born in 1990, becoming a regional benchmark.
In 2021, Maxime Richoz took over the reins and brought a new dynamic to the business, while preserving the expertise passed down since 1981.
The establishment is closed on Friday afternoons and Saturdays, but may open upon prior request.
