Walk along the crest of the Schwyberg and enjoy the view over the Swiss plateau, with the Jura mountains in the background and the Pre-Alps and Alps on the other side.
Schwarzsee and its lake have long been a favourite place for people from Fribourg and Bern to relax and enjoy themselves. Now a popular ski resort, it sits on the border between the French-speaking and German-speaking regions of Switzerland, close to the city of Fribourg.
Start your climb in the Guglervorsass pastures and then take the Fuchses Schwyberg ridge. Follow the footpath towards the Gross Schwyberg. The views on this section are far-reaching and include both the summit of the Kaiseregg and the Poya Bridge in Fribourg. From the restaurant in Gross Schwyberg, take the path towards Berghaus Gurli to start your descent. Then follow the signs to the hamlet of Holzena. The final part of the loop will take you back to your starting point via an undulating path that follows the course of the Warme Sense. Note that there are plenty of places on the way where you can rest on a bench and take in the surrounding landscape.
Tip: The village offers a range of activities including mini-golf and an Alpine slide.
