Cello and piano concert

In this concert program, which blends the stories of peoples marked
by oppression, the cello and piano unite their voices to sing a
song of hope, resistance, and compassion.
Composed after the repressed uprising in Poland, and played in part during
Chopin's last public concert, then exiled in Paris and weakened by illness,
Sonata Op. 65 exudes Polish nostalgia, musical depth,
and nobility of spirit.
Following these four contrasting and intense movements of the sonata, a
space of intimate, grave and solemn contemplation opens up, where the pieces are tinged with
modal and expressionist colors.
With “From the River to the Sea,” the heart of humanity rises up, troubled
in its collective identity and shaken by the ravages of persecution,
while at the same time the lamentations and prayers of communities
rooted in the Jewish tradition, honored by Bloch and Ravel, rise up. What remains
is the resonance of liturgical words, the declamatory beauty of a melodic line,
and the dignity of praise expressed despite suffering.

Finally, a final twist concludes this sublime program with the Hungarian Rhapsody,
imbued with liveliness and gypsy spirit, which draws us into the dance by alternating
popular lyricism and virtuoso twirling.
A vibrant dialogue between performers awaits you, inviting you to share a timeless moment
immersed in this repertoire marked by melancholy but also infused with a poignant
yearning for freedom.
