Number 3 of Rue's historical tour.
He was a graphic designer, storyteller, painter and sculptor. His nickname was Le Sage (The Wise). He gave Rue a set of stations of the cross in ceramic.
René Conus (1902-1979) moved to Rue after travelling extensively in Europe. He was a philosopher who loved nature and drew inspiration from it. His sculptures often sprung from branches he found or abandoned roots.
He lived in a tiny 19th century house. He was well integrated into his adopted community and designed theatrical scenery and banners for societies. For the pathway leading to the church, he created a set of stations of the cross in polychrome ceramic, with hands to illustrate suffering.
For Catholics, the stations of the cross is a prayer about the Passion. The term also refers to representations of this event.
