This jubilant satire corrosively criticises the unenviable fate of a housewife in the still very macho Italy of the 1970s, narrating her daily life torn between a jealous husband, a disabled brother-in-law with wandering hands, a phone harasser, and the mental load of her days. To her neighbour across the way, she confides her troubles and frustrations, as well as her dreams and hopes, in a blend of emotions where the line between farce and drama is always thin.
