Return of cattle
The return of cattle is one of the best known, traditional Alpine Herdsman festivals. After a four-months summer spent in the hills, the colourfully decorated cattle returns to the valley.
Cheese
Milk, rennet, salt and time. This recipe has been used for centuries to produce the finest cheeses. The traditional craft of cheese making can even be experienced in some alpine cheese dairies.
Traditional art
At the straw weaving studio in Rechthalten hats in the fashon of the Swiss Traditional Costumes are created. The shop offers all kinds of strawweaving products. Insider tip – a guided tour in the Strohatelier!
Seisler Brätzele
The Seisler Brätzele are a typical Sensler speciality. In contrast to the “Brätzeli” from the french-speaking part of the canton they are flat and are not rolled.
Kilbi
In automn the Canton of Fribourg celebrates the Kilbi “Bénichon” with a special menu that has been served for centuries and that even today brings together the whole family once a year.
Alpine wrestling festival
The wrestling festival, set in the unique Schwarzsee natural landscape, is the only prize-licensed alpine wrestling competition in South-West-Switzerland, where different language and culture regions can meet.
