Fabrizio Guidi, Mooser organ
(ECHO Young Organist of the Year 2025)
Improvisations and works by J. S. Bach, Cavazzoni, de Macque, Brahms
Framed by works by Johann Sebastian Bach, compositions by Girolamo Cavazzoni (Ave maris stella), Giovanni de Macque (Capriccio sopra Re Fa Mi Sol), Johannes Brahms (Choral Prelude on “O wie selig seid ihr doch, ihr Frommen”) and J. S. Bach (Adagio from BWV 564) will be heard, entering into dialogue with free improvisations on the same thematic material. Improvisation has always been part of the organist's craft; thus, a remark made by the elderly Johann Adam Reincken after a prelude by Bach in Hamburg/St. Katharinen in 1720 became a catchphrase: “I thought this art had died; but I see that it still lives in you.”
