The Seeland is not only known for its impressive scenic beauty, but also as one of the most important vegetable-growing regions in Switzerland. Over the past centuries, the Jura water correction has drained the area and made it usable for agriculture. Today, a wide variety of vegetables thrive here on the fertile soils, which are not only delicious but also sustainably produced. In recent years, numerous farms have committed themselves to organic farming and produce an impressive variety of vegetables. With the new group offer Organic farm tour in Seeland, Murten Tourism aims to raise awareness of the region and the organic farmers based here, emphasise the special features of the regionally grown vegetables and strengthen the appreciation of organic farming in the Seeland.
The offer is designed for groups of 1 to 15 people and is suitable for all age groups, whether as a family, school class or nature lover. It offers a great opportunity to look over the shoulders of the vegetable farmers and get to know the people behind the high-quality products and who go about their daily work with commitment and passion. Participants experience at first hand how sustainable agriculture is practised and learn lots of interesting facts about the diversity of organic vegetable cultivation in Seeland.
