The fountains in the town are of great importance for solemnity. The decorated fountains are an integral part of the festival and are also a tourist attraction.
To commemorate the Battle of Murten, the Stedtli and above all the fountains are festively decorated at solemnity (22 June). The teachers decorate the schoolhouse fountain in front of the Berntor and the inhabitants of the town decorate their town fountains. There is a silent competition for the most beautiful fountain decoration.
The common decorating on the evening before leads the traditional role of the wells as social meeting place they had for earlier generations, in addition to water supply.
