On Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, the 16th edition of the Fribourg Museum Night invites you to a unique cultural experience. In alignment with the Ice Hockey World Championship taking place in the capital, this year's event operates under the exciting theme "Power Play"
Fribourg Museum Night 2026: "Power Play" in the Murten Region
Here is the program awaiting you at three key museums in and around Murten:
Museum Murten (Ryf 4, Murten)
- Special Exhibition: "Field, tactics, momentum" allows you to trace the historic Battle of Murten in "power play" mode.
- Guided tour in three thirds: Learn how the spirit of the battle lives on today through lively sporting traditions (30 min). Tour times in French are 5:30 PM, 7:00 PM, and 9:00 PM; and in German at 6:15 PM and 7:45 PM.
- Action – Faster, more beautiful, more sporty (5:00 PM - 9:00 PM): Discover the secrets of sports photography with a professional photographer who will invite you to participate and capture your movements.
DasDEPOT.ch (Alte Freiburgstr. 34, Murten)
- Exhibition: Learn about aviation pioneers in the Three Lakes Region.
- Object presentation at 7:00 PM: Discover the history of motorcycle racing in the region from 100 years ago. The absolute highlight will be the live operation of an original 1932 New Map Super Sport motorcycle (approx. 20 min).
- Buvette: The museum association will provide refreshments from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Roman Museum Avenches (Tour Amphithéâtre, Avenches)
- Special Exhibition: "To work! Lives and trades in Aventicum".
- Flashlight tour: Explore "The treasures of the archaeological depot" in the dark at 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM (1 hour). Please note: The meeting point for this activity is the Archaeological Depot at route de Berne 23.

Tickets are CHF 20.- (entry is completely free for children and teens up to 16 years of age) and grant you access to all museums as well as free travel on regional public transport. As a special treat for your visit, a vintage bus (Oldtimer-Bus) runs between Murten and Avenches. The first round trip departs at 5:00 PM from Das DEPOT in Murten and arrives comfortably at the Roman Museum in Avenches at 5:10 PM.
