The Estonian organist Prof. Ines Maidre dedicates her programme to Johann Sebastian Bach,
“the great genius who encompassed everything, who united within himself all that is necessary for the perfection of one of the most inexhaustible of the arts...”. Quote from Johann Nikolaus Forkel
Ines Maidre opens her recital with Bach’s organ work Prelude and Fugue in G, BWV 550. This is followed by works by the Estonian composer Peeter Süda, who held Bach in high esteem. As a tribute to the great master, ‘Variations on B-A-C-H’ by the modern Latvian composer Marģeris Zariņš will also be performed.
Ines Maidre studied piano and organ at the Tallinn State Conservatoire, where she graduated with distinction in 1985. She continued her studies with Prof. Daniel Roth in Paris, completing them with the Prix d’Excellence avec félicitations. Ines Maidre is a much sought-after, virtuoso concert organist and a professor at the Grieg Academy in Bergen.
