The overture to Bedřich Smetana's opera The Bartered Bride opens the concert evening and is a rousing, lively and virtuosically composed piece that masterfully captures the cheerful and life-affirming mood of the opera with energetic rhythms and brilliant orchestral work.
With the second piece, Fantasie op. 24 for violin and orchestra by Josef Suks, we enter a deeply emotional and romantic atmosphere and are led through lyrical melodies by soloist Ivan ?enatý on the violin. After the interval, Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 6 op. 60 brings us back to reality, reflecting life with its cheerful liveliness, melodic beauty and orchestral colourfulness.
The concert evening interprets the festival theme of "family" not only emotionally, but also culturally as cohesion and identity.
