Music that makes the musical identity audible
Max Lässer already captivated audiences with his music in last season's guest performance "Our Souls at Night".
You can look forward to lively Ländler, stomping polkas and plenty of room for musical excursions: Swiss guitarist Max Lässer and his counterpart Markus Flückiger on the Schwyzer Örgeli are once again travelling "overland" and dedicating themselves to the music of the Alpine region: narrow and wide, gnarled and airy - just like the landscape in which it is created. The result is an unheard-of kind of Swiss dance music, a flow that sometimes happens with English or American bands that perform every night. The duo is the heart of the Überlandorchester and also its essence.
There are men on stage who keep their musical horizons wide open. Markus Flückiger elicits highly unusual sounds from his accordion. His own compositions exude a fascinating mixture of melancholy and virtuosity. Where is the cradle of Swiss folk music - in Eastern Europe, Finland, Argentina or rather in Muotathal? And when Max Lässer adds Caribbean and South African ingredients with his guitars, mandolins and the Weissenborn lap steel, it becomes clear that this is not just about finding traces and expanding the musical language of Swiss folk music. These are artists who create their own alpine music.
