Holiday program for outdoor enthusiasts
Wild nature and endless landscapes characterize this versatile holiday program. Discover the most beautiful spots in the region. Unforgettable hikes, bike trails for adrenaline junkies and spectacular mountain lakes offer everything the outdoor heart desires.
Day 1 – Les Paccots
Fancy a hike to the peaks? Then there is the Teysachaux, a ruggedly beautiful Fribourg ‘Vanil’ (jagged mountain). After a refreshment in the Alpchalet Incrota, things really get going. A steep ascent leads over the Alp Tremetta and the ridge to the rock path, where a few simple climbing sections can be mastered. There is pure happiness at the summit cross, the view over the mountains and Lake Geneva is terrific. On the way back, the Vuipay mountain hut tempts you to quench your thirst. Later you can enjoy a hearty dinner, for example in the Auberge on the idyllic Lac des Joncs.
Day 2 – Les Paccots
An alternative? Lovers of (E-) mountain biking can enjoy the ideal tour (2 h, 16.4 km) which also includes some technical challenges. From Les Rosalys restaurant you cross meadows and streams to Rathvel. A stop is possible at the Cabane du Petit Oiseau to reach a total of 557m ascent. Going back down, pure pleasure through the forests at the foot of Teysachaux. VéloEplaisir rents (e-) mountain bikes and offers guided tours.
Day 3 – La Gruyère
Do you want to not only see, but also experience La Gruyère? In this case, the obligatory passage is to sleep at least once in a alpine hut. From Jaun, the legendary Gastlosen tour gives this possibility to stay at the Chalet du Soldat. It is likely that you will hear the manager of the place playing the alphorn. What is certain is that the area is idyllic. Those who want a bigger challenge can continue on the Grand Tour des Vanils, an additional 4.5 hours to the chalet Les Marindes in the Morteys valley. The sunset will be even more spectacular!
Day 4 – La Gruyère
A gentle awakening in the colors of dawn? After breakfast at the Chalet du Soldat, you climb up to the Col du Loup to reach the south face of the Gastlosen. Along the way, you can watch the climbers and take a Rösti break at Chalet Grat, with a view on the Bernese Alps. To facilitate the descent to Jaun, it is possible to take the Gastlosen Express chairlift. Leaving Marindes in the Vanil Noir nature reserve is never easy, especially if you have the chance to come across chamois, marmots or even ibex.
Day 5 – Schwarzsee
Want to name a spectacular peak? The Kaiseregg (2185 m)! It is conquered thanks to a 5 hour hike. From the summit, you can admire the Jura, the Pays des Trois-Lacs, the Bernese Alps and even the Matterhorn. Of course, it is also possible to cycle, for example via Aettenberg – Alp Salzmatt – Sangernboden – Schwarzsee (35 km, 4 h). On the way, you will find some alpine huts, including the Gantrischli, where you can buy homemade cheeses. After, a swim in the Lake Schwarzsee is essential and why not, to end the day in style, good meat on slate on the terrace of the Restaurant Bad.
Day 6 – Schwarzsee
A dream tour (4.5 hours) for good hikers is this 2-day-hike. It takes you on the north face of the Recardets to pass the Pas de Chamois at the foot of the Patraflon, then through the Brecca valley to finally return to Schwarzsee. In the Steinige Rippa alpine refreshment bar you can enjoy regional specialties. Cyclists take advantage of the very varied tour of Fuchses Schwyberg (21 km) with an ascent to Grat. A little extra road to go up to the Gurli or Burlaya alpine hut. The most beautiful landscapes are available to you!
