The “Grand Tour of Switzerland” is a road trip created by Switzerland Tourism to be travelled by car, motorcycle or camper. This route goes around Switzerland, passing by the most mythical roads of the country as well as its best landscapes and its unmissable places.
On the Grand Tour of Switzerland the journey is the goal. This route will lead you 1’600 km through 4 language regions, over 5 Alpine passes, to 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well as along 22 lakes and numerous sights. The road continues to Fribourg, the canton’s economic capital which is known for its good gastronomy and where you will find a cultural treasure trove that goes back to the Middle Ages.
In La Gruyère, the route goes along the Lake Gruyère, the ideal opportunity to have a stop : discover the water sports or visit the beautiful Ogoz Island. The road continues up to Broc where the chocolate is made for more than 100 years in the Maison Cailler, a gourmet visit not to be missed. La Maison du Gruyère, situated in some kilometers, is the next gastronomic stop. Then visit the magnificent medieval city of Gruyères and savour a good fondue, as well as meringues with Gruyère double cream. The Grand Tour of Switzerland leaves Fribourg in the valley of Intyamon, situated on the territory of the Gruyère Pays-d’Enhaut Regional Nature Park, a true haven of peace in the middle of the nature.
