The "Réduit du Vully" was an infanterie military base during the 1st World War.
This sector was used to block the way between the Lake of Murten and the Lake of Neuchâtel. The main purpose of this place was to prevent enemies from gaining ground after the loss of another position. Furthermore, it allowed soldiers to rest before they could take again a lost spot.
It is always possible to have a look at this fortification because it could not be destroyed after the war, due to a lack of income. It has also been restored for the exhibition Expo02.
On site, you can find some caponiers as well as a wood construction, that used to support machine guns and has been rebuilt after its original plans. You will also be able to visit the trenches, even if they have not been completely excavated. An old refectory is also open for the visitors.
On site, information signs are available in French and German.
