“At Lake Murten”
Photo exhibition by Urs Albrecht, Manfred Meier, Patrick Pellegrini
Urs Albrecht, Manfred Meier, and Patrick Pellegrini are exhibiting their photographs on the theme of “Lake Murten” in a joint exhibition at the Pellegrini Gallery from September 12 to
October 5.
This exhibition follows two temporary exhibitions: “Lake Murten. From an artist's perspective” and “At Grengspitz. Bernard Bailly, Janet Bailly, Josiane Guilland,” which were presented by the Museum Murten. It is the result of a new collaboration between cultural figures from the Lake District.
This collaboration also resulted in a photo book featuring the works of the three photographers.
Urs Albrecht's photo series captures the diversity and variety of moods of Lake Murten and aims to capture emotional and atmospheric moments. The photos invite viewers to linger and sharpen their eye for small details—be it the light, a reflection, a gesture, or a structure. The lake as a central element symbolizes tranquility, change, and closeness to nature. The choice of a square format creates a formal calm that further reinforces the message of the image.
Raised in Mexico City, Urs Albrecht completed his professional training at scientific institutions in Houston and Hanover, among other places. Since childhood, he has been fascinated by processes in nature: from the annual growth of plants to the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly to the changing skies and human faces over time.
Manfred Meier captures unexpected and fleeting experiences with his camera and photographs intuitively, with a keen sense of light, mood, and composition. His eye is open to the inconspicuous, the fleeting, and the surprising. He finds his motifs mainly in the Lake Murten region. The gentle hills, the clear lake surface, the light falling through the trees—they all tell stories. His pictures aim to touch the viewer and capture moods: quiet beauty, tranquility, transience – but also hope, warmth, and vitality.
Manfred Meier comes from the canton of Solothurn and now lives in Lugnorre. His photographic spectrum ranges from landscape photography, macro and black-and-white photography to architecture and long exposures.
In the series “Am Murtensee” (On Lake Murten), Patrick Pellegrini uses the technique of “intentional camera movement” (ICM photography). The camera is moved during the exposure. This creates abstract images that dissolve light, water, and landscape into painterly forms. At the interface between derealization and abstraction, his images invite us to discover a different visual perception in which the visible and the invisible seem to meet.
Patrick Pellegrini has lived in the canton of Fribourg for over 50 years. His passion is art, street, landscape, and mainly portrait photography.
He sees the image as a small excerpt from a whole that allows room for interpretation.
