When Murten Becomes a Glowing Running Track
On 21 January 2027, the 1000 Lights Run returns to Murten, providing a unique experience full of movement, light, and magic as part of the Festival of Light.
Following the success of the first edition with 750 participants, the event invites everyone to discover the historic old town of Murten from a new perspective. Amidst illuminated façades, winding alleys, and medieval city walls, participants will enjoy a special connection between sport, culture, and light art.
Be Part of the Light Spectacle!
At the 1000 Lights Run, speed is not the focus; rather, it’s about shared experience. Without timing, everyone can run or walk at their own pace and savour the unique atmosphere.
The special aspect: participants become part of the light installation themselves! Wearing colourful outfits, fairy lights, headlamps, and creative costumes, they transform the old town into a vibrant sea of lights. The most original and brightest outfits will be awarded in a competition.
Whether with family, friends, or colleagues, the 1000 Lights Run offers an unforgettable experience for all generations. For children aged 4 to 12, there is a dedicated distance of 800 metres, while teenagers from 13 years and adults will cover a distance of at least 5 kilometres.
Join in and become one of the 1000 lights that will make Murten shine!
