El Funicular
El «Funi» es un transporte público único en Friburgo. Forma parte del inventario del patrimonio cultural nacional. La línea, abierta en 1899, une el centro con la Basse-Ville. Es el último funicular suizo que todavía funciona según el principio de los contrapesos. La curiosidad del lastre viene de su contenido: aguas residuales. Tiene la ventaja de ser barato y siempre disponible… ¡Qué importan los olores! ¡No se puede ser más sostenible!
The Fribourg ‘funi’ is part of the public transport system and is listed in Switzerland’s cultural heritage inventory. It started running between the town centre and the lower town in 1899 and is the only remaining water ballast-powered funicular railway in Switzerland. The ballast comes from a renewable source – the city’s wastewater. Despite the sometimes funky odour, the funi’s appeal is not to be sniffed at. It could hardly be more sustainable!
