Glass and Stone Art at the Pellegrini Gallery
From 9 to 31 May, Maria Radecke and Helena Bollin-Gretener will be exhibiting their artworks at the Pellegrini Gallery.
Maria Radecke exhibits intricate fusing glass art from her studio in Muntelier. Fusing involves melting glass of various colours and shapes together in a special kiln at around 800 degrees Celsius. Using this technique, which dates back more than 2,200 years, she creates relief-like glass pieces featuring geometric motifs that glow with a unique luminosity when caught in the light. They bear the signature of an artist with a keen sense of form, colour and harmony. The cut and shaped pieces of glass are placed side by side or on top of one another. In the kiln, they then fuse together to form a relief-like effect.
At the invitation of Maria Radecke, Helena Bollin-Gretener, now 90 years old, is celebrating her ‘Dernière’ at the Pellegrini Gallery.
On display are works in alabaster and soapstone. For many years, working with stone provided the artist with a wonderful creative, even meditative, balance to her great commitment to family, career, sport, local politics and social engagement in many areas.
You are warmly invited to the opening on 9 May from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm.
The gallery is open on Saturday from 4 pm to 8 pm, on Sunday from 2 pm to 6 pm, on Wednesday from 4 pm to 8 pm and on Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm.
