OVERVIEW, pictures and drawings by Myrta Biberstein
Myrta Biberstein, an artist from the Swiss Emmental, has been painting and drawing for four decades after inspiration from scenes of everyday life or impressions in nature. The images realised from it are sometimes modern in the area or sometimes delicate. But they always follow an inner feeling, which has become established when looking at the scene. The transport of this feeling to the canvas guides the artist in the painting of her works. Often ONE LOOK is enough to capture and internalise the essentials of the scenery for them. The latest exhibition gives an INSIGHT into their current work. The new pictures are extremely filigree works, which appear compact and airy at the same time. The mixing technique of chalk and acrylic resembles an orderly chaos. Figures and spatial forms are created from seemingly arbitrarily painted lines. But at the same time it is a colourful breakout from the norm, which brings joy and gives courage to dare new things. A second part of the exhibition is dedicated to the many travel impressions of the artist. She prefers to look for places on the water, such as the Lake Murten region or the Hanseatic city of Stralsund on the Baltic Sea. For the first time, visitors in Switzerland receive INSIGHTS into the artist's travel sketches. Usually ONE LOOK is enough and you can recognise the subject or the place right away. However, it is fascinating how much the coastal landscapes of the Baltic Sea and Lake Murten are similar in certain cases.
The vernissage with subsequent drinking is on Wednesday, 13. May 2026 at 6 p.m. in the LACabane Muntelier on the lake promenade near Murten. The exhibition is open from Thursday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
