This easy walk has no particular difficulties and links the two mediaeval towns of Murten and Laupen. As you walk, you will have the chance to discover the characteristic features of the Fribourg plateau as you cross its villages, countryside and forests.
Take the time to stroll around Murten, which is famous for its battle and well known for the race that attracts thousands of participants every year. The castle of Münchenwiler, which stands 3 km south of Murten in the Bernese enclave of the same name, offers a romantic place to stop surrounded by a delightful park. A fine viewpoint in Ober Echelried offers views over Jeuss, Cressier, Gurmels and the Fribourg Region as far as Le Moléson. The route continues through forests, meadows and villages. You will reach the banks of the Sarine in a magnificent setting of woods and reeds, close to the Auried footbridge. The confluence of the Sense and Sarine just before you reach Laupen is impressive.
Tip: be sure to stop in Auried, a Pro Natura nature reserve, to observe the amphibians and birds.
