Geocaching is a game of fun and adventure, a mix between high-tech treasure hunting and outdoor orienteering. The goal is to find boxes (called caches or geocaches) hidden all over the canton using a GPS or a smartphone.
These Caches are found in every corner of the region. Whether it's in the city or in the wilderness, on your way to work or school, and maybe even in the fountain across the street from your house.
So join this adventure and try to find as many as you can with the app.
If you know of a place, a viewpoint or even a statue that's worth visiting, you can even create your own cache and share it with the world.
Before you go, don't forget to download the geocaching application:
WITH AN iPHONE: Go to the App Store to download and install the free L4C (looking for cache) app, Lite version
WITH AN ANDROID: Go to Play Store to download and install the free C:geo application
The cache
The cache is a simple plastic box containing a logbook where geocachers record their first and last names, as well as treasures, usually items with no real value. Geocachers are encouraged to pick up the item inside the cache as long as they leave another item in exchange.
In the field
Open the application by clicking on the icon and create an account. Use the map tab to locate the nearest hidden cache. Once the cache is found, sign the logbook and return it to its original location.
