The Alpine panoramic trail, which runs from Lake Constance to Lake Geneva, promises fine views over the peaks of the Alps but also the Mittelland and the Jura. The Fribourg stages run through the heart of the Pre-Alps, which are distinctive for their active Alpine economy, superb landscapes and protected natural environment, which is home to a varied range of fauna and flora.
Most of the route in Fribourg Region is in the heart of the Pre-Alps, where agricultural activities are still practised traditionally in most of the 1,200 Alpine chalets. Food lovers will want to taste the delicious Gruyère AOP, goat’s cheeses, tarte au vin cuit (pear molasses tart), meringues and double cream in the numerous Alpine restaurants all along the panoramic trail. The outstanding built heritage, from castle to dam and alpine chalets with shingle roofs, as well as the specific fauna and flora of the Alpine meadows and forests, will delight any visitors with an interest in culture or nature. Stops along the way offer both relaxation and comfort in peaceful villages or small, friendly resorts.
The five Fribourg stages are as follows:
Guggisberg - Schwarzsee
Schwarzsee - Jaun
Jaun - Gruyères
Gruyères - Les Paccots
