2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship 
During autumn, discover the irresistible Bénichon sandwich in bakeries across Fribourg – freshly made and bursting with traditional flavours.
Fribourg's bakeries have prepared a delicious Bénichon snack: a takeaway sandwich with the traditional products Cuchaule AOP, Jambon de la Borne AOP, cabbage, butter and Bénichon mustard. You can find the list of participating bakeries under the “Useful information” tab.
Nowadays Bénichon is celebrated mainly with family and friends. To introduce guests to this tradition and showcase the expertise of everyone involved, from farmers to restaurateurs and craftspeople, experience the Bénichon Season in Fribourg. The restaurants will be serving the menu according to a set schedule, while the canton's butchers will be offering a ready-made, vacuum-packed Bénichon plate in a kit that can be heated in a bain-marie.
This initiative was created in 2021 by the Interprofession de la Cuchaule AOP in collaboration with Terroir Fribourg. The aim is to promote some of the products on the Bénichon menu by offering them in the form of a sandwich.
