This autumn, enjoy the Bénichon at home - order the four-person Bénichon kit from one of our partner butchers.
This multi-course kit features traditional Bénichon products: cabbage soup, Jambon de la Borne AOP (chimney-smoked ham), and the delicious Poires à Botzi AOP (small cluster pears) and only requires reheating in a water bath or steam cooker. Nowadays, the Bénichon is mainly celebrated with family or friends. With the Bénichon Season, this tradition is now being shared with a wider audience, placing local butchers, bakeries, and restaurants in the spotlight. The project breathes new life into the tradition and allows people to enjoy the traditional Bénichon menu between late August and mid-November throughout the canton of Fribourg. The menu is served in numerous restaurants, while bakeries offer the famous Bénichon sandwich — the perfect snack in between meals!
This offer was created in 2020 in collaboration between Terroir Fribourg and the association of Butchers of the Canton of Fribourg with the aim of promoting local consumption and introducing both locals and tourists to the delicacies of the Canton of Fribourg.
