2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship 
From 15 to 26 January 2025, 20 arteplages created by light artists from near and far will set the ‘Stedtli’ and lakeshore aglow between 6 and 10 pm at the Murten Light Festival. For the first time in the festival’s history, the main venues on Berntorplatz and in Hauptgasse will be thematically linked: The immersive installations with video mapping and live performances will take visitors to the centre of the earth. The 2026 edition will be held from 21 January to 1 February.
Murten is further consolidating its position as the Swiss capital of light. With ‘Dine and Light – Journey of Senses’ (until 31 March 2025) a truly immersive culinary experience awaits visitors. In the dining room of the Hotel Bad Murtensee, you are immersed in a 360° projection and become part of a fantastic story about the elements of nature during the 5-course menu. In the ‘Dine and Light au chalet’ itinerant version, dinner and spectacle take place in cosy wooden chalets. These are located on the Gurten (BE) until 22 February 2025 and back in Murten until 30 March 2025.
A thrilling tour through the Old Town bearing the mysterious name Circuit Secret Murten Licht rounds off the light programme in Murten (reopens in autumn 2025).
