It was probably a desire for local pride, camaraderie, and a passion for yodeling that prompted Alfons Gugler, then a schoolteacher, to found a yodeling club. With a handful of men from Plaffeien and the surrounding area, rehearsals began in February 1944 in his apartment, as the creation of such a club was the envy of many at the time.
Thanks to his spirit, enthusiasm, and, of course, his many original compositions, Alfons Gugler gave the club its identity.
Since then, the yodelers of Plaffeien have strived to perpetuate the tradition in this spirit, cultivating camaraderie and openness to new ideas.
It should be noted that the Alphüttli yodel club in Plaffeien has always been exclusively male. Today, it has 29 active members of all ages.
