The traditional Christmas Market takes place during two weekends in December. Around 40 craftsmen and craftswomen will show their art during these days in the medieval town of Gruyères.
Christmas atmosphere and decorations
From the 26th of November 2022 until the 8th of January 2023
From the end of November, Gruyères puts on its robe of light and sparkles with a thousand lights. This atmosphere comes to life thanks to the Christmas decorations that illuminate the facades of the historic houses. This enchanting atmosphere is completed by the gentle festive melodies that fill the city between 12:00 and 21:00.

Christmas in Erzgebirge | From the 26th of November 2022 until the 15th of January 2023
In the Erzgebirge, the Christmas season is eagerly awaited by its inhabitants. During the festive season, the villages of this formerly mining region of Germany shine brightly, while the windows of the houses are decorated with magnificent scenes and wooden figurines made by the whole family. Gruyères Castle presents this historic and now world-renowned craft.
