From the gondola car park, go back along the main road towards the village until you reach the Hotel Restaurant de l’Etoile, then turn right. Follow the road until you reach a small path that climbs up on your right.
The itinerary takes you first to the upper part of the village of Charmey and then to a section of the agriculture trail Charmey-La Valsainte . After 4.5 km of walking, a path on your left offers you the possibility of making a diversion towards La Valsainte to admire the Carthusian monastery.
After this junction, follow the road for 1.8 km before turning left onto the road. At the next hairpin bend, a footpath takes you through the mountain pastures to the pretty chapel of Pré de l’Essert. To reach the summit of Vounetz, this hike takes you up the slope opposite the start of the chairlift, then joins the alpine road towards Tissineva.
If you want to do this route from the summit, take the road around the arrival of the chairlift and turn right at the Auberte Tissineva. After 1.5 km, the path goes into the alpine pastures towards the Pré de l’Essert.
Tip: At the summit, the Restaurant les Dents-Vertes welcomes you for refreshments.
