In the village of Jaun, discover a very unique handcraft.
It is Jaun’s cultural diversity that gives this mountain village its particular charm. An example is its cemetery, known for the exquisite woodcarvings found on each tom, depicting the life of the deceased. These sculptures, quite unique in Europe, were created on the initiative of Walter Cottier, a self-taught resident who died in 1995. Other village artists have carried on this most unusual work.
