The eighth edition of the open-air festival on the shores of Lake Gruyère will feature Napalm Death and Six Feet Under. Joining these legends of extreme music will be some twenty bands, including Show Me The Body, Merauder, Crypta, and the rising star Agriculture.
The Abyss Festival returns from June 25 to 27, 2026, for an eighth edition marked by radicalism, with a lineup that brings together legends of extreme metal and rising stars from an alternative scene that remains as vibrant as ever.
Headlining the festival, Napalm Death (UK), the undisputed masters of grindcore, and Six Feet Under (USA), a pillar of Florida death metal, will deliver their raw, uncompromising power. They will be joined by two central figures of the New York hardcore scene, Show Me The Body and Merauder.
Led by the charismatic Fernanda Lira—L’Abyss still remembers her performance with Nervosa in 2017—the Brazilian band Crypta will unleash their technical death metal, tinged with thrash and black metal. Hailing from Chicago, Embryonic Autopsy explores 1990s American brutal death metal with surgical precision. The Californians of Agriculture will treat the audience to their “ecstatic black metal,” a form of blackgaze celebrating the joy and beauty of life… Formed in 2022, this young band—as daring as it is innovative—is on its way to becoming a benchmark. Not to be missed!
Also founded under the California sun, the excellent all-female trio Faetooth will unleash their mystical, fairy-tale-like, dark—very dark—world. An absolute must-see for fans of heavy doom.
In the realm of curiosities, we have Author & Punisher (USA), the musical project of mechanical engineer Tristan Shone, who designs and builds custom instruments to create massive, oppressive industrial metal.
In a completely different vein, the arrival of Ramoneurs de Menhirs will give the Abyss Festival the feel of an anti-conformist fest-noz! With their explosive Celtic punk, the Bretons turn each of their performances into a unifying trance where it doesn’t matter if you’re a mohawked punk, a law student, or a housewife. A joyful mess in the making…
As always, the Abyss Festival gives plenty of space to the Swiss scene. Next summer, the lineup will feature Conjonctive, Calcined, Athlete, Protection civile, The Basement Toads, Ivy, Bruyante, and XOXO. Not to mention, for the free evening on June 25, the local acts: Years of the Boomerang and Eden Flows.
