Brooms, barometers or whistles: people from the countryside have long used plants to make their everyday utensils.
Today, a tiny part of this knowledge still resists the modernising invader. The botanical cafés aim to save this heritage from oblivion in a playful manner. Indeed, these completely free gatherings are hosted by the excellent actor Vincent Rime (occasionally with the assistance of Céline Cesa).
The botanical cafés differ from lectures in their decidedly participatory nature. Close to a debate, they allow everyone the opportunity to engage in the discussion or, conversely, to simply listen.
Open to everyone, these events encourage the transmission of ancestral and local knowledge. So, do not hesitate to bring along someone from your circle, whether younger or older. And come to solve, in a friendly and jovial atmosphere, the various plant-related puzzles proposed by each of these cafés.
The botanical cafés 2026 are the result of a successful partnership with the regional natural park Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut and are actively supported by the Gruyère Museum, as well as receiving support from Option Gruyère, Loterie Romande, the town of Bulle, and the municipalities of Charmey, Château-d'Oex, Gibloux, and Vaulruz.
