On Tuesday, November 24, 2026, the Gruyère Alpine Club’s clubhouse (*Stamm*) will host the second edition of its alpine garage sale. Following the remarkable success of 2025—which drew nearly 200 visitors and raised 1,000 francs for charity—the event returns with the same goal: giving mountain gear a second life while fostering solidarity, a friendly atmosphere, and environmental responsibility.
A Sustainable Concept Built to Last The *AlpinFlohmi* offers a simple, practical alternative to buying new gear: it allows enthusiasts to pass on equipment that is still in good working order, while enabling others to get geared up at affordable prices. From specialized books and vintage gear to technical clothing and equipment for hiking, skiing, or mountaineering, the variety of items reflects the richness of alpine activities and the stories of the people who pursue them. Every object tells a story, ready to continue its journey in new hands.
A Diverse Crowd, A Unique Atmosphere The 2025 edition demonstrated strong public interest in this type of gathering, bringing together seasoned mountaineers, families, young enthusiasts, and curious newcomers drawn by the clubhouse's warm atmosphere. In 2026, we hope to see that same diversity—the event's greatest strength—once again: a place where people come not only to buy but also to exchange ideas, seek advice, share experiences, and meet fellow enthusiasts.
Dedicated Volunteers at the Heart of the Event Just like last year, the event relies on the dedication of volunteers from the Gruyère Alpine Club (CAS). From welcoming guests and setting up exhibitors to labeling gear, managing the refreshment bar, and handling general coordination, their commitment ensures a smooth, friendly, and professional evening. Their presence embodies the community spirit that makes our section so special.
Safety and expertise: a renewed priority Buying second-hand mountain gear requires careful attention. Experts will be on hand to help visitors assess the condition of the equipment, ensuring reliable advice and promoting a culture of safety—essential in the mountains.
A friendly, tasty experience The alpine garage sale is also a chance to relax. A refreshment stand will be available, and visitors can enjoy a bite to eat on-site.
A continuing commitment to solidarity In 2025, the proceeds—1,000 francs—were donated in full to the Rigzen Zanskar Association, which supports education in a remote Himalayan region. This year, the event will once again support a charitable cause, true to the belief that a passion for the mountains can foster mutual aid and the sharing of knowledge. Sales proceeds will benefit the "Aide aux familles de la Gruyère" Foundation.
A second life for unsold items Exhibitors will have the option to offer their unsold items at other alpine markets held in Switzerland. Some may choose—as happened in 2025—to donate part of the gear to the CAS Gruyère Youth Group or local associations, further strengthening the chain of reuse and solidarity.
An established event Buoyed by the enthusiasm surrounding its first edition, the CAS Gruyère "AlpinFlohmi" has now become a highly anticipated annual event. We invite you to join us on November 24, 2026, for an evening dedicated to sustainability, sharing, and conviviality. The mountains are not merely a setting for athletic performance; they are a space for collective responsibility, connection, and passing on knowledge. It is this spirit that we wish to celebrate once again this year.
