Désalpe: a living tradition in the heart of the mountains
Every year in September and October, the descent from the mountain pastures marks one of the highlights of the traditional mountain calendar. It celebrates the return of the herds to the plains after more than four months spent on the high mountain pastures.
On this occasion, the herdsmen, proudly dressed in their "bredzon", parade alongside their companions in traditional "dzaquillon". The cows, the true queens of the day, are adorned with ringing bells and flower garlands in a procession that is as joyful as it is spectacular.
The program includes folk parades, traditional music, local produce markets, and a festive atmosphere in the village streets.
Every year, the descent from the mountain pastures attracts thousands of visitors who come to experience this authentic celebration.
