Muleteers and their mules were once essential to life in the alpine pastures of La Gruyère, ensuring the transport of cheese wheels to the plains. With the help of the oji, a lightweight wooden structure, the mules traversed steep paths, illustrating the harmony between man, animal, and nature. Although replaced by modern techniques, this practice remains rooted in regional history and is occasionally celebrated during local events.
