Get away from the crowd and enjoy the opportunity to discover some of the pastures of the Javro valley. This is a mid-altitude mountain walk without any technical difficulties but with a fair amount of difference in height.
The walk begins where the Télémixte arrives in La Berra. A play area is there. From this point, walk to the summit of La Berra, from where you can enjoy a 360-degree view. Panels indicate the names of the mountains and local landmarks.
Then follow the crest towards the Auta Chia d’Amont. Opposite you are the ragged points of Les Recardets, with the Kaiseregg in the background to your left and the Dents Vertes to your right. The descent alternates between fields and woods. Continue to La Valsainte, the last remaining Carthusian monastery in Switzerland. The final part of the route climbs back up, alternating between mountain pastures and forests. Return to the car park, either on foot from the gîte (allow 50 minutes), or walk back up to the Chalet de La Berra and take the Télémixte again (30 minutes).
Tip: For a variant without taking the Télémixte, there is a bus to La Valsainte via Charmey. You will start the loop by climbing up to La Berra via the Gîte d’Allière.
Accessible by public transport: limited, weekends only (apart from the variant) with the Alpin Bus line 20.290 Charmey - La Valsainte.
Accessible by car: yes (parking in Le Brand, then Télémixte)
