The Jogne Gorge is closed for the winter season.

The Gorges of the Jogne offer a refreshing and accessible hike in the heart of a green countryside.

This famous hike winds through the Gorges de la Jogne, a river formerly called Jaunia - La Froide. In the heart of a lush nature, hikers discover a haven of freshness while walking along this sometimes narrow path.

Along the river, the path connects the village of Broc to the Montsalvens Dam. Wooden bridges, tunnels and galleries enhance the hike, which turns into an adventure for both young and old. Picnic spots are available along the path, for an energising break along this family trail.

Architectural wonders highlight the path. In Broc, the Jogne River flows into Lac de La Gruyère at La Maison Cailler, the Swiss chocolate factory founded in 1898. Further up the Gorges de la Jogne, you will find the Montsalvens dam. This structure, which dates back to 1921, is the first double arch dam in Europe. As you walk along it, you will be able to admire the sublime view of the Jogne Valley and the Dents-Vertes de Charmey.

Accessible by public transport: yes | Nearest stop: Broc Le Home

Accessible by car: yes

Our advice:
To prolong your hike, it is possible to go to the village of Charmey along the edge of the Lac de Montsalvens. Les Gorges de la Jogne are also part of the Chemin du Gruyère, which links Charmey to the medieval city of Gruyères.
