Schwarzsee-Jaun Traverse
Stretching 12 km between Schwarzsee and Jaun, this route takes you through the Brecca Valley, over the Euschels Pass and past the panoramic views of the Gastlosen. An ideal alpine hike for an authentic outdoor experience in Gruyère, taking in mountain pastures, pre-Alpine landscapes and ending in the village of Jaun.

Turn a walk into a getaway
The Schwarzsee–Jaun crossing can easily be turned into a two-day adventure. Why not spend a night in the mountains, enjoy a tasty break at an alpine hut, or explore Jaun once you’ve finished the hike?
Access by public transport
The Schwarzsee – Jaun crossing is not a loop. Make sure to plan your outbound and return journey before departure using the SBB timetable.
Useful stops:
Schwarzsee side: stop Schwarzsee, Gypsera or Schwarzsee, Bad, depending on your starting point.
Jaun side: stop Jaun, Dorf or Jaun, Bergbahnen. The Gastlosenexpress chairlift is located about a 5-minute walk from the Jaun, Bergbahnen stop.
