This 16th-century building now houses an art gallery where many artists and artisans exhibit their works from Easter to mid-October.
With the exhibition “Psychedelic Visions and Kaleidoscopes”, David Bifrare, known under the artist name VinyldoGG ArtworK, presents a universe shaped by photography, digital art and digital creation. Born in 1979 in Fribourg, he has been living in Lausanne for around twenty years.
He began creating digital art more than fifteen years ago as a complete self-taught artist. Initially driven by play and experimentation using photographs of friends, he soon turned towards striking figures from the underground scene: drag queens, performers and alternative photo models. From an early stage, symmetry, deconstruction and mirror effects became central elements of his work — constants that have remained and deepened throughout his artistic development.
In 2020, with the intention of building an identifiable and coherent artistic universe, he chose to work exclusively from his own photographs. His sources of inspiration then shifted towards trees, churches, nature and architecture. He transforms them into psychedelic visions in which familiar landmarks sometimes blur, leaving the mind uncertain about the origin of the forms. His works often evoke a kaleidoscope: intense colours and vivid light stand alongside deep black. Shadow and radiance merge here, as in life, as in the artist’s soul.
A great admirer of stained-glass windows, he incorporates them as overlays in some of his creations, reinforcing the luminous and spiritual dimension of his universe. Like any artist, his work continues to evolve and grow richer over time, while maintaining a strong and recognisable identity.
