From castle to castle, this hike between Gruyères and Bulle takes you from one medieval city to another and offers you magnificent views. Without any particular difficulty, it is suitable for everyone.
Your hike starts at Gruyères station, at the foot of the small picturesque town.
When reaching the medieval town of Gruyères after a slight ascent, enjoy this preserved setting, with the Gruyères Castle and the Gruyère peaks in the background. After passing St. Théodule Church, the trail descends along the hill to reach the Sarine River and the famous Pont qui branle , a historic wooden structure that spans the river. Enjoy this bucolic atmosphere along the Sarine river. Pay attention: between the trees sometimes appears the Gruyères Castle, enthroned in front of the Moléson.
Once in Broc, near the Château d'en Bas - an old fortified house dating from the 14th century, cross the Sarine again and then walk into the Bouleyres forest. During 3 km, enjoy the forest landscapes and admire the surrounding nature. Once out of the forest in Bulle, take the Chemin de Bouleyres to reach the historical centre of the Gruyère capital. You first discover the Musée Gruérien, then the gardens nestled at the foot of the castle to finally arrive at the train station of Bulle.
Tip: To discover the authentic Gruyère, visit the Musée Gruérien and the 7 themes presented in its permanent exhibition.
