La Maison du Gruyère is a cheese dairy providing the opportunity of viewing the hand-made production of the cheese "Le Gruyère AOP" and much more…

Do you know the history, the century-old know-how, and the various stages involved in the production of a Gruyère AOP? The specifications, its quality and traceability requirements? The maturation periods and the care in the cellar during its minimum 5 months of aging?

At the foot of the town of Gruyères, the interactive exhibition "Gruyère AOP, a journey to the heart of the senses" allows you to immerse yourself in the history of this internationally renowned cheese. An initiatory journey of a drop of milk, it reveals a know-how that has been passed down since the 15th century. Furthermore, the artisanal production takes place before the public's eyes, three to four times a day, depending on the season.

Thanks to his skill and experience, the cheesemaker imparts the Gruyère AOP its uniqueness and individuality. Between 9:00 and 12:30, the highlight is, of course, the opportunity to observe the cheesemakers' expertise.

The visit, lasting about 30 to 45 minutes, is conducted with headphones, and it is in the company of the friendly cow "Cerise" that you experience the discovery of the Gruyère AOP. Audio information is available in thirteen languages, and written translations are offered in eight languages.

The Restaurant at La Maison du Gruyère invites you to extend the experience by tasting many dishes featuring Gruyère AOP as well as typical dishes from our region.

The Gruyère Market showcases products from our cheesemakers, local produce, crafts, and also offers souvenirs.
