The Gorges of the Jogne will remain closed this year due to significant damage. While waiting for a possible reopening, the “Sentier des patrimoines de la Jogne” offers a cultural alternative between Charmey and Broc.
Usually closed during winter, the Gorges of the Jogne will not reopen this spring. This popular trail, connecting Broc to the Montsalvens Lake, has suffered major damage in recent months: rockfalls and fallen trees have obstructed the path and now pose a safety risk for hikers. As a result, the four concerned municipalities – Broc, Val-de-Charmey, Châtel-sur-Montsalvens, and Crésuz – have decided to keep the gorges closed until further notice.
The Jogne heritage trail as an alternative
Hikers can still travel between Charmey and Broc via Châtel-sur-Montsalvens by following the marked hiking trails. The route includes the Sentier des patrimoines de la Jogne, a cultural trail that immerses visitors in the history and heritage of the Jogne Valley. Informative panels along the way highlight local architecture and the living traditions that define the region’s identity.
