An urban walk where nature and heritage meet.
Since its origins, Bulle has developed at the crossroads of town and countryside. The 1722 plan, the first official cadastral survey of the town, shows a city surrounded by gardens, trees and bodies of water. The rare views of the town before the fire of 2 April 1805 also confirm this presence of nature.
Since the 1990s, the town has experienced significant population growth, rising from 12,000 to over 27,000 inhabitants. Farms and meadows have gradually given way to new districts.
Concerned with preserving biodiversity in urban areas, Bulle has adopted more environmentally friendly practices: the abandonment of chemical herbicides since 2012, the annual production of around 60,000 plants, and a preference for biological pest control methods.
Labelled «GREEN CITY SWITZERLAND» in 2022 for its commitment to sustainable development, Bulle has seen the creation and transformation of numerous green spaces. This visit invites you to discover the parks and gardens of the town, between nature, history and urban landscapes.
